“A house should reflect not only how people live today, but how they want to live in the future. Our job as architects is to design residences that reflect the distinct style and personalities of our clients so that their day-to-day lives are comfortable, functional and most importantly, so they feel truly at home.”
Bina Bhattacharyya, AIA
Bina Bhattacharyya joined RAMSA in 2003. Known for her creativity and singular designs, Bina became partner in 2022. Throughout her career, she has designed houses, apartments, and townhouses in different regions and vernaculars, including New York, Colorado, and Hong Kong. She brings an artistic sensibility and deep understanding of the important interplay between architecture, landscape, and interiors to each project.
In addition to single-family homes, Bina has designed luxury residential buildings, resorts, and communities across the United States, Europe, and in China, spearheading several of the firm’s most notable, award-winning projects. Bina’s uniquely cosmopolitan perspective on design grew out of her lifelong passion for architectural and urban design, developed through many years spent living, studying, and travelling abroad throughout South America, Asia, and Europe. She received her Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University and her Master of Architecture from Columbia University.
Bina and her work have been featured nationally and internationally in Tatler Asia, Monocle, the Wall Street Journal, Interior Design magazine, and elsewhere, and she is involved with the Urban Land Institute, the Urban Design Forum, and the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. Bina is a co-founder and advisor to RAMSA’s Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Alliance (IDEA), where she is particularly focused on design mentoring and education. Bina lives in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, and when she’s not working, she enjoys photography and traveling with her family.
