Residence on Salt Spring Island
Part of the charm of Salt Spring Island is that it is accessible only by ferry or float plane. The southerly tip of Scott Point, a narrow peninsula, provides a secluded spot for this house as well as panoramic views of both Ganges and Long Harbours and the neighboring islands, all animated by the comings and goings of ferries and planes.
“For the main residence, we conceived a U-shaped design to allow the house to wrap around an entrance courtyard providing shelter from the strong, often cold, prevailing southerly winds. A boathouse on Long Harbour, a teahouse to the west and adjacent to the entrance drive overlooking Ganges Harbour, and a spa pavilion situated at the south end of the Point connect back to the main house and offer the owners additional spaces to relax and entertain.”
